The cherry blossom season in 2022

    by 黒田九兵衛 March 29, 2022

The cherry blossoms are in full bloom as of March 27 ♪

It is no exaggeration to say that all Japanese love flowers.

Kanagawa was in full bloom on the 52nd day from "Risshun立春",the beginning of spring in the traditional Japanese calendar (February 4th).

    Now

When the cherry blossoms are over, dogwood decorates the cityscape.

And when that is over, tea picking will begin "Hachi-Ju--Hachi-Ya八十八夜", from the "Risshun" at 88th nights.

This year is May 2nd. Kagoshima in the south is early, and Kanto in the north is a little late.

From around mid-April, the tea leaves cultivated on flat ground for matcha are covered with a lawn cloth to block more than 80% of the sunlight. Then, the amount of chlorophyll will increase and a dark matcha will be made.
