Products Policy
Our tea leaves are exclusively made in Japan, and we focus on medium grade and above. This applies to both general consumer products and B2B products for businesses.
Low-grade tea leaves are sold at mass retailers as cheap tea leaves, PET bottled tea, and even lower-grade tea leaves are added to livestock feed. Our company does not target those grade products, but provides high-quality tea leaves that can be enjoyed with umami and deliciousness, and that can be expected to have health benefits in long term.
The price equivalent to one cup of general PET bottle tea provided by beverage manufacturers is around $0.50. Our tea leaves are high quality and expensive, but the price for one cup is around $0.50. This is because we want you to enjoy a richer quality of life by tasting higher quality tea, even if the price is substantially the same.
Also, we do not provide supplements.
There are supplements that feature the health benefits of Japanese tea, but regular consumption of supplements and enjoying a rich deliciousness cup of tea are two different things. This is because we believe that the high-quality products contribute the quality of life.
We select tea leaves with a sustainable environment in mind.
For example, if there are tea leaves with a strong umami (theanine) that is far from the natural environment of the production area, we suspect excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer. Theanine is an amino acid that is used for growth, and is produced at the roots of tea leaves based on nitrogen in the soil. However, soil that has been overdosed with nitrogen fertilizer is converted into nitrate ions in the soil and becomes contaminated. This is because nitrate nitrogen dissolves in water and flows into groundwater and rivers. These waters are bad for babies, cause eutrophication with algal blooms, and in some cases nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas. Tea leaves grown in Japan, which is rich in organic matter in its natural state, do not require excessive fertilizers, so in most cases, compared to other countries, only less amount is used. However, there are some cases in which it is thought that overdosing of nitrogen fertilizer was intended to win prizes at competitions.
In this way, we carefully and multilaterally evaluate and select production areas and tea leaves.
